Sliding doors prioritise simple movement

Folding doors prioritise a wide clear opening
Folding panels stack together at one or both sides. They can open a larger proportion of the span, but the folded panels require a storage zone and introduce more vertical frame lines when closed.
The stack position should be coordinated with furniture, curtains, external paths and the direction from which people approach the opening.
Compare the complete opening
Do not compare only the catalogue elevation. Review the threshold, drainage, structural support, glass weight, number of panels, screen strategy and access door. A low threshold may improve movement between spaces, while the weather exposure may require a more robust sill and drainage solution.
